Protesters Against the Gaza War Are Blocking Bridges and Expressways Leading to Airports in Various U.S. Cities

Protesters blocked traffic into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in the afternoon, and during the morning commute they closed down San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge for five hours, holding posters that said, “Stop the world for Gaza.”

Protesters who halted traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge were taken into custody by New York City police. In addition, forty individuals were taken into custody at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport after obstructing traffic with placards that read, “Stop sending bombs.”

“O’Hare International Airport is one of the largest in the country, and there will be NO business as usual while the United States green-lights the genocide of Palestinians,” the Chicago Dissenters said on X on Monday, attaching a picture of themselves across the motorway.

The California Highway Patrol reports that during the morning commute in San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge was closed from approximately 7:30 a.m. local time until approximately 12:15 p.m. Additionally, more protests in Oakland caused the closure of another important motorway.

The organisation Chicago Dissenters declared on Monday in a post on X, showing them linked across the motorway, “O’Hare International Airport is one of the largest in the country, and there will be NO business as usual while the United States green-lights the genocide of Palestinians.”

The California Highway Patrol reports that a major motorway in Oakland was closed due to protests, and that the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco was closed during the morning commute from approximately 7:30 a.m. local time to approximately 12:15 p.m.

Police from the Port of Seattle arrived swiftly to wreak protestors’ automobiles. While demonstrators formed a “sleeping dragon” configuration, locking their arms together, 46 people were arrested by the police.

Tax Day is Monday, which the demonstrators claimed to be their objective as part of a “global call for an economic blockade” against Israel’s continuing conflict with Hamas in Gaza.

“Our government continues to use our tax money to fund the genocide we are witnessing on our screens,” they said on their blog.
