Wisconsin’s Apprenticeship Program has reached a historic milestone, with over 17,000 participants—the highest in its 112-year history—according to an announcement by Gov. Tony Evers and the Department of Workforce Development DW during National Apprenticeship Week.
Gov. Evers highlighted the achievement as proof of the state’s commitment to workforce development. We’ve expanded apprenticeship opportunities, reduced work barriers, and strengthened our economy to meet 21st-century demands, Evers said.
The program combines on-the-job training with classroom education. DWD Secretary Amy Pechacek emphasized the focus on its continued growth, crediting partnerships across the state, including the Wisconsin Apprenticeship Advisory Council, for driving its success.
With over 200 apprenticeship roles and 2,600 employers participating, the program is a key component of Wisconsin’s economic strategy.
