Wisconsin Speaker Robin Vos Talks Trump Ties & GOP Policy Priorities

This article highlights Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos’ recent comments about his relationship with former President Donald Trump, as well as his stances on key state issues.

Despite a turbulent past where Trump endorsed Vos’ primary challenger in 2022, Vos now claims to have a close relationship with the president, emphasizing the importance of having Republicans connected to Trump for the benefit of Wisconsin.

Vos also criticized Gov. Tony Evers’ proposed state budget, particularly the prison system overhaul, which includes major investments in corrections.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the process Evers used to unveil the plan and hinted at the GOP’s intention to craft their own reform proposals.

Additionally, Vos voiced his support for Brittany Kinser in the state superintendent race and pushed for education reforms tied to school choice and accountability.

He also cautioned against agreeing to increases in funding for K-12 education or the University of Wisconsin system without ensuring increased accountability.

Vos’ comments reflect ongoing partisan tensions between the GOP and Governor Evers, as well as Vos’ strategy of aligning with Trump while addressing state-level policy matters.
