CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A West Virginia Democratic Delegate has called for Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential race. Kayla Young, who represents the 56th District in the state’s House of Delegates, made the request on Thursday due to concerns about the lack of enthusiasm for Biden’s reelection campaign.
Young expressed her concerns about the direction of the national Democratic Party, saying that while Biden has been a dedicated public servant, it’s time for new leadership. She believes that the nation needs a change and urged Biden to step aside before the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, which takes place from August 19 to August 22.
She emphasized that future generations deserve leadership that prioritizes the country and communities over political motivations. Young’s call for Biden to withdraw comes amid growing skepticism among some Democrats about his chances in the upcoming election.
Despite facing criticism and recent health issues, including a COVID-19 diagnosis, Biden remains committed to running in November.
