Washington state has reached a settlement with Puppyland, requiring the pet store and its owners to pay $3.75 million and cease its illegal advertising and sales practices.
The settlement, announced by Attorney General Nick Brown, follows a 2023 lawsuit that accused Puppyland of selling sick puppies, trapping customers in predatory loans, and restricting truthful online reviews.
The store, with locations in Puyallup and previously in Renton, was also found to misrepresent breeding standards and health guarantees.
As part of the resolution, Puppyland must end non-disparagement clauses in sales contracts, stop advising on consumer loans, and stop false advertising.
Affected customers may be eligible for reimbursement for veterinarian bills by contacting the Attorney General’s office.
