Vivos xPoint Bunker Complex Faces Legal Battles and Safety Concerns in South Dakota

The Vivos xPoint residential bunker complex in South Dakota is at the center of a growing controversy, as investigations reveal a series of legal and safety issues.

Located south of Edgemont, the complex, marketed to doomsday preppers, has become embroiled in 16 lawsuits involving residents, Vivos management, and subcontractors.

Complaints also include evictions, unmet promises for amenities, security issues, and financial disputes, with at least five formal complaints to the state attorney general.

Vivos owner Robert Vicino disputes the claims, attributing the disputes to residents violating community rules.

The complex, built on a former Army base, features 500 concrete bunkers, with residents paying substantial upfront fees but not owning their bunkers. Leases include non-disclosure clauses that limit media interaction.

In addition to lawsuits, former residents have been interviewed by the FBI, though Vicino denies knowledge of an ongoing investigation.

Other complaints include concerns about criminal background checks on subcontractors and unfinished amenities, including septic systems and roof repairs.

Residents are reportedly frustrated by delayed improvements and monthly maintenance charges, leading to legal actions like a lawsuit from a Virginia resident who paid substantial fees for an unfinished bunker and services.

Residents, seeking a peaceful life, now find themselves entangled in legal battles, with many hoping for further investigation and resolution from state authorities.
