A local nonprofit, Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare, received $10,000 from Virginia ABC’s Alcohol Education and Prevention Grant Program to help prevent underage and high-risk drinking.
The funds will be used to create a PSA campaign for adults in both English and Spanish. The campaign will promote responsible drinking habits and encourage guardians to discuss the dangers of alcohol use with children and teens.
“It’s very important for adults to understand responsible alcohol use so they can be good role models for the next generation and their peers,” said Sarah Davlin, capacity building specialist for Virginia ABC.
The Virginia ABC grant program accepts applications in January.
