The cast of HBO’s Veep and late-night host Stephen Colbert are set to host a virtual table read event on September 29 to raise funds for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
The event will feature stars of the political satire series, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Reid Scott, and Timothy Simons.
The cast will read the episode Crate, where Vice President Selina Meyer learns she is set to become president.
These virtual reunions have been a successful fundraising tool for the party, previously involving the Veep cast in 2020 and 2022, as well as The West Wing and The Princess Bride casts.
Wisconsin, a key battleground state for the 2024 election, is a strategic location for this type of event. Recent polling from Marquette University shows Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Donald Trump by four points in the state, though within the margin of error.
The newly drawn legislative maps are expected to encourage higher Democratic turnout.
Tickets for the event are available through donations of any size to the state Democratic Party. Colbert expressed excitement for the event, noting his love for both Veep and Wisconsin voter turnout efforts.
