Two Young Lives Lost in Dearborn Crash: Police Urge Parents to Discuss Safe Driving

A young man and woman died in a car crash on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.

Dearborn Police and the Fire Department were called to Michigan Avenue and Southfield around 2:08 a.m. on Sunday (8/11). They found that a Dodge Charger, traveling very fast east on Michigan Avenue, had lost control and hit a tree.

The 18-year-old driver from Dearborn died at the scene. The 20-year-old passenger from Garden City died later at the hospital. Another passenger is in critical condition, and three others were treated for minor injuries. The car had six people on board, all between 15 and 20 years old.

Police are not releasing the names of the victims yet. Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin expressed condolences and urged parents to talk to young drivers about safe driving to prevent such tragedies.
