Two Brush Fires Break Out Along the Colorado River, Burning Over 200 Acres in California and Arizona

Two brush fires started on both sides of the Colorado River on Saturday afternoon around 1 p.m.

One fire began near Bush Street and Interstate 40 in Needles.

As of 9:34 p.m. Saturday, the fire on the California side has stopped spreading forward at 70 acres and is 50 percent contained. One structure has been burned.

The fire on the Arizona side of the river continues to burn and has consumed 143 acres.

The San Bernardino County Fire Department and Mohave Valley Fire are collaborating to control the flames and address hot spots.

Needles Highway remains closed from Interstate 40 to Old National Trails Highway.
