Trump Leads Biden in 5 Key Swing States as Voters Worry About Economy and Israel-Hamas War: Poll

WASHINGTON — A recent poll conducted by The New York Times, Siena College, and The Philadelphia Inquirer reveals that former President Donald Trump is currently leading President Joe Biden in five crucial swing states. These states will play a significant role in determining the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.

According to the survey released on Monday, Trump is leading Biden among registered voters in Arizona by seven points, in Georgia by 10 points, in Michigan by seven points, in Nevada by 12 points, and in Pennsylvania by three points. Nevertheless, Biden continues to hold a slight advantage over Trump by a margin of two points in Wisconsin.

Among likely voters, the trend remains consistent, with Trump leading in five out of the six crucial swing states. The only exception is Michigan, where Biden currently holds a one-point lead.

Voters in these pivotal states are increasingly concerned about the economy as the 2024 election approaches. In Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, more than 50% of respondents rate current economic conditions as poor.

In addition, college campuses across the nation are witnessing a wave of pro-Palestinian protests. Among these demonstrations, young voters are voicing their discontent with Biden’s approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict and the dire situation in Gaza.

According to the polls, a mere 28% of respondents in the 18 to 29 age group have faith in Biden’s ability to handle the complex Israel-Palestine conflict, whereas a majority of 52% express trust in Trump. A significant portion of individuals in this age group either expressed uncertainty or chose not to provide an answer.

Based on a survey conducted among over 4,000 registered voters from April 28 to May 9, the results have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 1.8 percentage points. The margin of error for each state poll varies between 3.6 and 4.6 percentage points.

Additional polls support these findings, showing Trump ahead of Biden in crucial swing states, as indicated by an Emerson College/The Hill poll conducted from April 25 to April 29. Trump is currently leading in states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
