A tractor-trailer crash created an unusual scene when part of the truck got stuck upright against an overhead sign on a Virginia highway.
The 62-year-old driver was charged with reckless driving, according to Virginia State Police.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Around 9:30 a.m. on September 5, the raised bed of the truck hit an overhead traffic sign on Interstate 64 near the I-295 exit. The bed separated from the truck’s cab and remained stuck in the air, police said.
Photos showed the crash bent the sign’s support posts, causing severe damage to the base on the right side.
The incident and traffic buildup were visible on traffic cameras from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
At about 11 a.m., the sign was removed from the bed, officials said.
The crash closed the westbound lanes for over five hours, leading to six miles of delays. At 4:40 p.m., the left lane was reopened.
The crash occurred about 12 miles east of downtown Richmond, near mile marker 200.
