Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz kicked off a three-day campaign tour on the West Coast Sunday, starting with a fundraising event in San Diego. The Minnesota governor was set to travel to Los Angeles later that evening, following a campaign reception in Montecito, Santa Barbara County. Walz is also scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris spent the weekend in North Carolina, meeting with local officials to assess recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene. Harris is gearing up for a series of interviews this week as part of the campaign’s media push.
She recently appeared on the popular podcast Call Her Daddy, where she discussed issues like abortion, sexual abuse, and women’s rights, while also taking aim at her GOP opponent. The appearance is part of a larger effort by Harris and Walz to rally support in the final stretch of the campaign against Republicans Donald Trump and JD Vance.
Harris has also taped an interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes, which is set to air Monday night. In the coming days, she’ll make appearances on Howard Stern’s satellite radio show, The View on ABC, and CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Walz, still recovering from verbal missteps during the recent vice-presidential debate, appeared on a Sunday news show to defend his stance on abortion rights and address his previous gaffes.
On the Republican side, Donald Trump made his fourth trip to Wisconsin in eight days, visiting the battleground state where Republicans are concerned about matching the Democrats’ voter enthusiasm and turnout.
People say Wisconsin is the hardest swing state to win, Trump told a crowd at an airplane hangar in rural Juneau. I don’t think so. Wisconsin has historically been a tight race in presidential elections, with Republicans winning only once in the past 40 years when Trump carried the state in 2016. Securing Wisconsin could be crucial for Harris to win the presidency.
