Tennessee Man Edward Kelley Faces Charges for January 6 Capitol Riot and FBI Murder Plot

Edward Kelley, a Tennessee man facing charges for his involvement in the January 6th Capitol riots, allegedly carried a gun that day, as revealed during his recent bench trial.

Testimony from FBI Special Agent Jessi Mann indicated that Kelley may have concealed the weapon in a waistband holster, with surveillance images reportedly showing its outline.

Mann also testified that Kelley purchased ammunition and gas masks before the attack.

Kelley, accused of assaulting officers and breaching Capitol windows to let other rioters in, is separately facing federal charges for an alleged plot to murder FBI agents involved in his investigation.

After his arrest in May 2022 and subsequent release pending trial, Kelley, along with co-defendant Austin Carter, allegedly met in Tennessee to discuss recon and assassination missions against those investigating him.

Authorities stated that Kelley gave Carter and a witness a list containing names and details of 37 law enforcement personnel, including those present at his arrest.

Carter has since pleaded guilty and received sentencing, while Kelley’s trial for the alleged FBI plot is scheduled for November 18.
