South Dakota Attorney General Confirms Safe Site After Bomb Threat Investigation

South Dakota’s Attorney General, Marty Jackley, confirmed that no explosives were found at the site of the new state prison in Lincoln County after an investigation by the State Division of Criminal Investigation DCI.

The search was prompted by a citizen report to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, expressing concern about possible agricultural-related explosives on the site, where old farm buildings were being demolished.

The DCI Bomb Unit, along with the South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Sheriff’s Office, conducted a thorough search of the area using bomb technicians and a police service dog.

Jackley praised the prompt and coordinated response, which led to the swift conclusion that the site posed no explosive threat.
