Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff visited metro Atlanta this past Sunday to rally Democratic supporters ahead of the last week of early voting in Georgia.
Emhoff made multiple campaign stops, including visits to Pontoon Brewing in Sandy Springs and Nouveau Bar and Grill in Jonesboro, where he urged young voters, particularly young men being targeted by former President Donald Trump’s campaign, to do their homework and research candidates thoroughly.
Emhoff, emphasizing his Jewish heritage, spoke of the mezuzah at the vice president’s residence, which originated from an Atlanta temple where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once preached, symbolizing a bond between civil rights and Jewish communities.
He also addressed the allure of Trump’s public persona, cautioning young voters against being distracted by Trump’s appearances at various pop culture events.
The Harris-Walz campaign, recognizing Georgia’s critical swing-state status, has increased its presence in the state, including recent events with high-profile figures like Bruce Springsteen, former President Barack Obama, and upcoming visits by Tim Walz and Michelle Obama.
Meanwhile, former President Trump and vice presidential candidate JD Vance have also made stops across Atlanta to solidify support, with Trump set to return for another rally soon.
Jonesboro resident Sheila Bush expressed optimism about Kamala Harris’ chances in Georgia but acknowledged the need to address younger voters’ concerns, particularly around economic issues.
This marked Emhoff’s third Georgia visit in October, underscoring the high stakes as both parties vie for Georgia’s key votes.
