School District’s ‘Create Your Own Camp’ Has Openings

The first flush of excitement at the freedom from school is already beginning to wane and some parents and youngsters are beginning to look around for new and entertaining ways to fill the days. The Derry Cooperative School District’s “Create Your Own Camp” provides a variety of offerings to help fill those suddenly long days.

Camp classes are held the week of Monday, July 7, through Friday, July 11, and the following week, Monday, July 14, through Friday, July 18.  Students can choose one, two or three sessions each week. The sessions are: 8 to 10 a.m., 10:25 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and 12:45 to 2:45 p.m.

The camp classes are enrichment activities with the exception of band, which runs for two sessions both weeks. Summer Camp Coordinator Serena Levine said an $85 fee covers both band sessions, and openings remain.

All forms needed for camp registration can be found on the district Web site at www.sau10.org under News and Announcements, or by calling 432-1210 or visiting the School Administrative Unit (SAU) 10 office at 18 South Main St.

“We have cancelled some of the camps for lack of interest but those remaining for the most part have lots of space, and we welcome people signing their children up,” Levine said.
