RIDOC Partners with Labor Department to Recruit 150+ Correctional Officers Amid Retirement Wave

The Rhode Island Department of Corrections RIDOC launched a major recruitment campaign on Thursday, aiming to address an anticipated wave of retirements within its ranks.

Partnering with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training, RIDOC seeks to hire over 150 correctional officers over the next two years for its upcoming classes, 93 and 94.

Recruitment Manager Tiffini Isom emphasized that RIDOC is searching for candidates who align with its core values, noting, Recruitment is more than just filling positions; it’s about finding individuals who align with our core values… Each new hire will add to our culture and impact our success.

RIDOC Director Wayne T. Salisbury Jr. highlighted the urgency of this effort, recalling that nearly 400 officers hired in the late 1980s and early 1990s are now eligible for retirement.

We have a great need of recruiting new officers, Salisbury stated, pointing to this recruitment campaign as an opportunity to reshape RIDOC’s culture and increase diversity within the department.
