Rhode Island Nurse Suspended for Falsifying Medication Orders: What You Need to Know

The Rhode Island Department of Health has suspended the license of nurse Amelinda Dubois, accusing her of falsifying a patient’s medication orders.

The suspension notice alleges that in November, Dubois wrote an order for Insulin Lispro, despite it being discontinued by a nurse practitioner.

Following this, she allegedly shredded the nurse practitioner’s order and backdated a new medication order, falsely claiming it had been prescribed by the nurse practitioner.

The Rhode Island Department of Health determined that Dubois’ continued practice posed an immediate danger to the public after further investigation.

Dubois admitted to a supervisor that she shredded the original order, citing the order as incorrect. This led to a complaint accusing her of falsifying both the order and the patient’s medical record.

Additionally, Dubois had been placed on probation earlier in May for alleged misconduct related to narcotic administration procedures.
