Power of the Ballot Bus Tour Rallies Black Voters in Marietta, Georgia

The Power of the Ballot Bus Tour in Marietta, Georgia, marked a spirited effort to mobilize Black voters ahead of the 2024 election.

Stopping at the Cobb County Civic Center, the event brought together speakers from key organizations like the Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., who underscored the importance of Black voter turnout.

With Black voters making up about a third of Georgia’s electorate, they hold a potentially decisive influence in the upcoming election.

Helen Butler, executive director of the Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda, urged attendees to recognize their voting power, stating, It’s time for you to exercise your right to vote. Never, ever give up that power.

While the coalition maintains a non-partisan stance, figures like Atlanta rapper Lil Scrappy used the platform to encourage support for Vice President Kamala Harris, highlighting her alignment with community needs.

Amid growing efforts by the Trump campaign to appeal to Black voters with economic promises, the rally emphasized the strength of the Black vote in determining the nation’s future, regardless of party affiliation.

Speakers reassured attendees that support resources, including legal aid, would be available to combat voter suppression efforts, urging them not to be discouraged by misinformation. As the bus tour wraps up, the call remains clear: participation in this election is crucial.
