Pizzagate Gunman Edgar Maddison Welch Dies After Police-Involved Shooting in North Carolina

The Pizzagate gunman, Edgar Maddison Welch, who made headlines in 2016 for firing shots in the Comet Ping Pong restaurant in Washington, D.C., as part of a conspiracy theory, has died following a police-involved shooting during a traffic stop in North Carolina.

Welch had traveled to the restaurant with an AR-15 rifle, acting on the debunked theory of a child sex-trafficking ring linked to prominent Democrats.

He surrendered without causing harm at the time and was sentenced to four years in prison in 2017.

His death occurred during a traffic stop when officers attempted to arrest him for a probation violation, and he reportedly pointed a handgun at police.
