Pinkerton Academy 12th grader Nick Stillian collected the state individual bowling championship this past Saturday, Feb. 23, by battling his way through a talented field of bowlers to the very top of the competitive ladder. Stillian began the championship round of play with a strike and then added three more strikes after that in claiming the NHIAA Individual Bowling Championship at the Spare Time Bowling Center in Manchester.
The Astro standout bested Justin Conway of Merrimack for the title, winning the championship round match by a score of 181-161. Stillian was the top qualifier, and he defeated Pinkerton teammate Raina Stobbs by a slim, 228-226 count in the round of 16. He then bested Cam Calato of Souhegan of Amherst by a lopsided 222-
167 score in the quarterfinals, which earned him a berth in the championship round. Other Pinkerton bowlers who competed on the big championship day along with Stillian and Stobbs were Zakk Salvo and Ben Campbell.
