Over 4,600 Cases of Lundberg Rice Recalled for Potential Rodent Contamination

Around 4,600 cases of “Lundberg Family Farms Sustainable Wild Blend Gourmet Rice” in 16-ounce bags have been recalled due to potential contamination by a foreign object believed to be of rodent origin, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Each case contains six bags, totaling over 27,000 bags affected by this recall. This rice blend includes black, brown, red, and wild rice.

The recall was initially announced on May 10, 2024, and was later classified as a “Class II” recall by the FDA on July 17, 2024. A “Class II” recall indicates that the product might cause temporary or reversible health issues, with a low chance of serious health consequences.

Lundberg Family Farms stated that the recall was a precautionary measure and that the affected products are no longer on store shelves. No illnesses have been reported.

The recalled rice bags have the UPC number 73416-00430, lot code 231004, and a best-by date of October 4, 2024. These products were sold in grocery stores in Arizona, California, Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, Oregon, and Wisconsin.

Other rice products from Lundberg Family Farms or bags with different lot numbers are not affected. Customers with recalled rice should discard it and contact the retailer for a refund.
