In response to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, hundreds of Ohioans, including members of the Ohio Task Force 1 OHTF-1, are actively assisting with relief efforts.
Initially deployed to Florida two weeks ago for Hurricane Helene, the team has since been redirected to North Carolina and now returns to Florida following the impact of Hurricane Milton, a Category 3 storm that made landfall with winds of 120 mph and triggered deadly tornadoes.
Task force leader Adam Landis shared insights into their challenging mission, stating that their work involves rapid response and adaptation to evolving needs.
As they assist in search and recovery operations, they encounter significant destruction, including heavily damaged homes.
In addition to OHTF-1, local American Red Cross volunteer Cassandra Robertson is providing care to those in shelters, offering hope and support to affected individuals.
Meanwhile, FirstEnergy is sending additional linemen from Ohio to help restore power to the millions affected by the storms.
Despite the hardships, both responders and volunteers express gratitude for the opportunity to serve and support their fellow Americans during this crisis, committing to remain in Florida for as long as necessary to aid in recovery efforts.
