North Carolina Man Allegedly Uses Eye Drops to Poison Wife and Daughter: A Twisted Tale

A former North Carolina paramedic, Joshua Lee Hunsucker, was initially charged with killing his wife, Stacy Hunsucker, using eye drops. While out on a $1.5 million bond, he allegedly used eye drops to poison his 10-year-old daughter. Authorities believe this was part of a plan to frame Stacy’s parents, Suzanne and John Robinson, for her 2018 death.

Stacy Hunsucker was thought to have died from a heart attack at age 32, but suspicions arose when her mother accused Joshua of insurance fraud. This led to a criminal investigation, revealing that Stacy had high levels of tetrahydrozoline, a substance found in eye drops, in her system.

Prosecutors claim that Joshua poisoned his wife over time by putting eye drops in her drinks. He allegedly told coworkers that if he wanted to kill someone, he would use eye drops like Visine. After Stacy’s death, Joshua quickly cremated her body and claimed her $250,000 life insurance policy.

While under investigation, Joshua allegedly set fire to a medical helicopter midair and staged a kidnapping to stop his in-laws from testifying against him. He has been charged with murder, insurance fraud, intimidating a witness, obstruction of justice, and arson.

Stacy’s parents, who are now fighting for custody of their granddaughters, have vowed to seek justice for their daughter. In a separate incident, Joshua’s daughter fell seriously ill with symptoms consistent with eye drop poisoning. Tests confirmed the presence of tetrahydrozoline and an adult antidepressant in her system.

Joshua is now in custody awaiting trial. His attorney has requested a public defender for the new charges related to the alleged kidnapping and poisoning of his daughter. The Robinsons have expressed their primary concern is the safety of their grandchildren.
