New Prime 6 Facility in Buckhannon: A $35 Million Investment with 75 Job Opportunities

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. WBOY — A company known for its eco-friendly wood products, which appeared on Shark Tank, is opening a new manufacturing facility in Upshur County.

Gov. Jim Justice announced on Wednesday that Prime 6 will invest $35 million in the Buckhannon project, creating 75 jobs. The facility will start hiring soon and begin operations in the coming months.

The new facility will be located at the former Novelis site on Moore Avenue, which closed earlier this year.

Prime 6 specializes in turning wood waste into USDA-certified products for the hospitality industry, like cooking charcoal. The company gained attention on “Shark Tank” during its 12th season. Kevin O’Leary, who struck a deal with Prime 6 CEO Riki Franco on the show, is expected to attend the grand opening, though the date has not yet been set.

Gov. Justice expressed pride in welcoming Prime 6 to the area, noting the company’s investment continues West Virginia’s tradition of valuing wood products and will provide well-paying jobs to the community. The Governor also mentioned that Prime 6’s presence will have a positive impact on the local economy.
