Mosquito Control Program Starts Next Week in Derry

The Town of Derry will begin its mosquito control program this Monday, April 4.

Crews from Dragon Mosquito Control will be checking swamps, marshes, woodland pools, ditches, storm drains and other shallow, stagnant water for mosquito larvae.

The spray schedule is based upon mosquito surveillance data, disease test results and weather conditions.

Emergency spraying may take place at East Derry Memorial Elementary School, Hood Park, Derry Village Elementary School, Rider Fields, West Running Brook Middle School, Don Ball Park, Pinkerton Academy, MacGregor Park, South Range Elementary School, Veterans Field/O’Hara Field, Ernest P. Barka Elementary School, Alexander-Carr Park, Grinnell Elementary School, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Derry, Gilbert H. Hood Middle School, Calvary Bible Church, Pinkerton practice fields, and Saint Thomas Aquinas School.

It is not possible at this time to determine if emergency spraying will be necessary.

Residents who do not want their wetlands treated may use the No-Spray Registry online at www.dragonmosquito.com/no-spray-request-2016 or write to Dragon Mosquito Control, P.O. Box 46, Stratham, NH 03885. They should include their name, physical address, phone number, and a description of their property with boundaries.

Residents who would like to have their stagnant water checked for mosquitoes may call the Dragon office at 734-4144 or email [email protected]. There is no charge for this service.
