The Million Meal Movement is hosting its 14th annual Million Meal Marathon on February 5, 2025, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, with the ambitious goal of packing 1 million meals in one day.
This event is a critical effort to fight hunger in Indiana, where nearly 1 million residents face food insecurity.
Volunteers will gather to pack meals for distribution through the Midwest Food Bank, which will reach food banks and pantries across the state.
The Million Meal Movement has been working since 2007, packing nearly 38 million meals with the help of over 25,000 volunteers.
This year’s marathon expects over 2,000 volunteers from local businesses, civic groups, churches, and schools to come together to provide vital support.
With one in five children in Indiana facing food insecurity, the event also serves to raise awareness of this pressing issue.
In addition to volunteers, the event encourages monetary donations, with each dollar helping to provide six meals.
Volunteers will participate in two-hour shifts to package meals, and the goal is to have all meals distributed within two weeks.
The Million Meal Marathon is not just a food-packing event but a celebration of community, compassion, and collective action to make a difference in the lives of those facing hunger in Indiana.
