In Michigan, 41-year-old A. Aboukhodr is facing serious charges after allegedly abusing his pregnant wife when she refused to give him her passcodes. He has been charged with domestic violence, torture, and unlawful imprisonment.
The incident began on July 14, when Aboukhodr reportedly assaulted his 22-year-old wife over an 18-hour period. Prosecutors say he beat her with a belt, dragged her up the stairs, punched her, and threw her to the ground. During the attack, the woman started bleeding, and Aboukhodr allegedly told her she “didn’t even deserve his child.”
The violence continued a week later, on July 21, when Aboukhodr allegedly attacked his wife again as she tried to leave their home. Prosecutors say he strangled her during this incident. She eventually escaped and sought help from a neighbor.
During his arraignment, Aboukhodr’s defense attorney, H. Hamade, noted that Aboukhodr has no prior criminal record and emphasized that these are still allegations. He also mentioned that the victim had expressed a desire not to pursue charges, but the prosecutor argued she was afraid for her life.
Despite this, the judge set a $350,000 bond due to the seriousness of the charges. Aboukhodr remains in custody as the case moves forward, with many calling for a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served and the victim receives proper support during this difficult time.
