Michigan Deputy Shoots Suspect During High-Speed Pursuit Ending in Indiana

A Michigan deputy shot a 33-year-old man during a pursuit that extended into Indiana, according to the Branch County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred Monday evening when the deputy tried to pull over the suspect, but he fled the scene. After briefly driving off the road, the suspect was shot by the deputy before continuing his escape.

The suspect was eventually apprehended near the Ohio state line in Indiana and transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Michigan State Police have assumed control of the investigation, and the man faces pending charges in both Indiana and Michigan.

Law enforcement agencies involved in the operation included the Michigan State Police, Indiana State Police, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, and local police departments from Fremont, Angola, and Steuben County EMS.
