LA CROSSE WKBT — Local Democrats gathered for a town hall meeting to discuss the potential effects of Project 2025 on Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District.
U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan, state Sen. Brad Pfaff, and state Rep. Jill Billings led the discussion, focusing on how the initiative could impact the region. Pfaff expressed concerns about Project 2025, describing it as a national agenda being imposed on local communities. He emphasized the importance of politicians listening to their constituents rather than following a top-down approach.
What worries me the most is this ongoing trend of pushing national ideas at the local level, said Pfaff. That’s not a recipe for success.
Pfaff also highlighted issues of particular concern for the district, including the protection of reproductive rights and the preservation of Medicare and Medicaid.
Project 2025, led by the conservative Heritage Foundation, is a large-scale presidential transition initiative that revolves around four key pillars, with its primary goal being a major restructuring of the federal government.
