MARION, Ind. WISH — A new project in Marion is getting a big boost from the state.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has announced $850,000 in funding from the READI program for the River Rock Lofts project.
This $10.8 million development will include 44 apartments, a public plaza, and 3,300 square feet of space for businesses in Marion’s downtown Riverfront District.
Mayor Ronald Morrell, Jr. called the project “transformative” in a statement about the funding.
Construction is set to begin in early 2025 and finish by spring 2026.
The READI program supports projects that make life better for people in Indiana. Started by Governor Eric Holcomb in 2021, it provided $487 million for 353 projects in its first round.
A second round, with extra funding from Lilly Endowment Inc., will distribute another $750 million across the state.
