Lady Astros’ Lax Squad Keeps on Plowing to Victories

Stepping onto a field with the defending Division I champion Pinkerton Academy girls’ lacrosse squad this spring is akin to walking onto a busy highway with traffic zipping by at 70 miles per hour.

The Nashua High School South and Manchester Central High lax contingents both found out just what kind of challenge it is to take on coach Rob Daziel’s powerful Lady Astros last week, with both getting soundly throttled by the undefeated PA crew.

On Tuesday, April 29, in Derry the Pinkerton bunch slammed South by a 15-1 tally, outscoring the Lady Purple Panthers by an astounding 11-0 margin during the first half.

In the win, which was the PA crew’s eighth in eight decisions this season, the victors received three goals and an assist from Erin Coutts, three goals from Maggie McCarthy, two goals and an assist from Kennedy Daziel, two goals apiece from Ali Davis and Nola Wesche, a goal and two assists from Aleah MacKay, single goals from Sierra Sanchez and Amanda Szostak, three assists from Micaela Capozzo, and one helper from Dani Tompkins.

Pinkerton goalies Sarah Lambert and Kyra Goucher each made one save their contributions to the lopsided win.

And the 9-0 Lady Astros were even more prolific where it came to scoring last Friday, May 2, in a 20-1 mauling of Manchester Central in Derry.

The hosts were up 15-1 by halftime, and they held the Central side scoreless in the second half while continuing to score goals themselves.

Kennedy Daziel was the big offensive stalwart for her dad’s team in this decisive victory, potting four goals and assisting on two others.

McCarthy was good for three of the PA goals, Coutts scored twice and assisted once, and Sanchez, Davis, and Tompkins each scored twice.

Additionally, MacKay and Capozzo each scored once and dished out two assists, Colby Millsaps had a goal and a helper, and Avery Drouin and Ariel Vaillancourt each netted one goal.

Lambert made two saves and Goucher had one for the victorious hosts.
