Karen Pence, former second lady of the United States and wife of former Vice President Mike Pence, announced the launch of the Hummingbird Charitable Foundation on Tuesday.
The foundation will operate similarly to the charitable initiatives she led during her time as first lady of Indiana, including hosting an annual spring luncheon to raise funds for various causes.
The foundation’s inaugural year will focus on veterans’ charities, supporting organizations such as Indy Honor Flight, INvets, and the Indy Warrior Partnership.
These groups assist veterans with job transitions, housing, and access to essential services. Pence emphasized that the foundation aims to address the full spectrum of veterans’ needs after their military service.
After this year, the foundation will invite the public to nominate charities for future support, with the board making the final decisions.
The first fundraiser luncheon is scheduled for March 27 at The Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis, with tickets starting at $200.
