MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Tennessee House District 86 Representative Justin J. Pearson will speak at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. He will join Representatives Gloria Johnson and Justin Jones, who, together, are known as The Tennessee Three.
The trio gained national attention after a mass shooting at Nashville’s Covenant School led to large protests at the Tennessee Capitol, calling for stronger gun laws. Reps. Pearson and Jones were expelled from the Tennessee House for their involvement in the protests but were later reinstated by local officials. Rep. Johnson narrowly avoided expulsion.
Rep. Pearson expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to speak at the DNC, calling it a tremendous platform during an important time in American politics.
In addition to his main remarks, Rep. Pearson will speak at the DNC Youth Council, the Environmental & Climate Crisis Council Meeting, and several caucus breakfasts for Tennessee, Nebraska, Rhode Island, Georgia, Kentucky, and Mississippi.
