ANCHORAGE, Alaska TCN — A man has been sentenced to 80 years in prison, with 20 years suspended, for his role in an armed robbery that led to the tragic deaths of a couple in 2016. The case drew attention after the couple’s young son told authorities, Ninjas killed my parents.
The Alaska Department of Law announced that on November 19, Judge Jack McKenna sentenced 27-year-old DeAnthony Harris for the murders of Christopher Brooks and Danielle Brooks. After his release, Harris will also serve 10 years on probation.
The crime occurred on December 24, 2016, when Savon Wiley planned to rob Christopher Brooks under the pretense of buying marijuana. Wiley and three accomplices—Lamarkus Mann, Jaylyn Franklin, and DeAnthony Harris—broke into the Brooks’ home, armed with guns, to steal marijuana and money. At the time, Danielle Brooks’ 5-year-old son was present in the house.
According to reports, the robbers opened fire inside the home. Danielle Brooks was killed inside, while Christopher Brooks was shot as he tried to escape onto the front steps. The boy later described the attackers to authorities as ninjas.
The other accomplices received lengthy sentences as well. Jaylyn Franklin accepted a plea deal in 2019 and was sentenced to 100 years, with 20 years suspended.
Lamarkus Mann was sentenced to 109 years, and Savon Wiley received 76 years, with 20 years suspended, following their trials in 2020.
