Indiana State Police ISP detectives arrested a murder suspect, Kenron Laing, 24, of Crown Point, Indiana, on Thursday at Fort Liberty in North Carolina.
The arrest followed a two-year investigation into the 2022 shooting death of Gildardo Garcia Salina, 39.
Salina was killed on November 2, 2022, at his home near North Cataract Road and U.S. 231 in northern Owen County.
Investigators discovered that Salina, employed by a landscaping company, had worked at a hotel frequented by Laing.
After gathering evidence and conducting interviews, ISP detectives secured a warrant for Laing’s arrest from an Owen County judge.
Laing was taken into custody with assistance from the U.S. Army’s Criminal Investigation Division. He is awaiting extradition to Indiana and faces preliminary murder charges.
This case remains under investigation, with detectives also conducting interviews in Chicago.
