Indiana Capitol Rioter Antony Vo Flees to Canada to Evade Prison Sentence

Indiana resident Antony Vo, who participated in the Jan. 6 Capitol breach alongside his mother, has fled to Canada in an apparent bid to avoid serving a nine-month prison sentence.

Vo, charged as a nonviolent participant in the insurrection, was scheduled to report to the Federal Bureau of Prisons on June 14, 2024, but failed to appear, according to reports from WISH-TV.

Before fleeing, Vo criticized the court system on social media, describing it as a kangaroo court. In an interview with WISH-TV, he defended his decision to avoid incarceration, claiming that Jan. 6 participants have been held more than accountable.

Vo also expressed his belief that President-elect Donald Trump, set to take office next month, will issue pardons for those involved in the Capitol attack.

Vo has applied for asylum in Canada, but the Canadian government has not confirmed whether it will detain him or return him to the United States.

When asked about Vo’s refugee status, Canadian officials declined to comment directly, citing privacy laws. However, they noted that the evaluation of asylum claims considers whether the applicant has committed serious crimes.

Meanwhile, Vo’s mother, who also participated in the Capitol breach, is facing pending charges. Her case has yet to be resolved.
