Indiana Black Church Coalition Advocates for Universal Pre-K and Property Tax Relief at Statehouse Rally

The Indiana Black Church Coalition’s rally at the statehouse highlighted important legislative priorities for their community, focusing on universal pre-K for Marion County children, property tax relief for seniors, community safety, and mental health resources.

Through surveys and community meetings, coalition members gathered feedback on these issues, underscoring the need for bipartisan support to address them.

Rev. Shea Thompson shared a personal story of losing his brother to gun violence, emphasizing the urgency of addressing gun violence reduction and mental health services.

The coalition is pushing for lawmakers to prioritize these issues and has called for a referendum on the ballot for universal funding for pre-kindergarten in Marion County. By uniting their voices, they aim to drive meaningful change for all Hoosiers.
