HONOLULU Island News — The Hawaii Supreme Court will soon hear arguments about evidence related to the 1991 murder of Dana Ireland.
The case involves a challenge by the Hawaii Police Department, which is contesting a court ruling to release evidence connected to the death of suspect Albert Lauro, whose DNA was found on Ireland. Attorneys requested access to details of the investigation, including Lauro’s interrogation, but the police argue that this could disrupt the murder investigation.
The Supreme Court’s decision could be pivotal in determining the innocence of the Schweitzer brothers, who spent over 20 years in prison for Ireland’s murder. Although they were exonerated in 2023, they have not yet been officially declared innocent.
