Hampton Man Arrested for Multiple Vehicle Break-Ins in York County

YORK COUNTY, Va. — A Hampton man was arrested for several vehicle break-ins in York County.

Early on Sunday, June 30, around 5 a.m., York-Poquoson Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a man breaking into cars in the 300 block of Saint Clair Circle.

When deputies arrived, they found several broken-into vehicles and saw the suspect. The suspect fled into the woods, and deputies lost track of him.

Later, deputies identified the suspect and obtained arrest warrants.

With help from the Hampton Police Department, 21-year-old Yaseer Isaiah Powell was arrested and charged that day with:

– Obstruction of justice (class 1 misdemeanor)
– Damaging property (9 counts, class 1 misdemeanor)
– Grand larceny (felony)
– Unlawfully entering a vehicle (10 counts, class 1 misdemeanor)
– Petit larceny (5 counts, class 1 misdemeanor)

Powell is currently held in the Hampton City Jail.
