Governor Tim Walz D attended the Minnesota State Fair on Sunday, marking his first visit since being nominated as the vice-presidential candidate.
No better place than the Minnesota State Fair, Walz shared on social media platform X.
Walz posted photos and a video on X showing him interacting with fair workers, handing out ice cream cones, and enjoying the event. His appearance comes just over a week after accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination as Vice President Harris’s running mate.
In a video, Walz is seen holding a pork chop on a stick, saying, “Minnesota breakfast of champions: pork chop on a stick. I’ve been to many state fairs, and while Iowa’s is nice, it doesn’t compare to Minnesota. The pork chops here are the best.
According to the Associated Press, Walz attended the fair with his wife, Gwen, and their daughter, Hope. He visited several food vendors, many offering food on a stick.
Walz acknowledged that his presence might have caused some disruptions but saw it as an opportunity to highlight Minnesota’s culture. This is a chance to talk about Minnesota, our economy, and our agriculture, he said.
WCCO, a CBS News station, reported that Walz’s visit lasted just over half an hour, with the Secret Service and local law enforcement ensuring the area was secure. During his visit, he served milkshakes and ice cream at the Dairy Building.
