Governor Tony Evers has announced a $1 million grant initiative aimed at recruiting and training teachers to address shortages in Wisconsin’s educational system.
Under this program, nonprofit organizations can apply for grants of up to $500,000 to develop and implement programs that will recruit, train, and license teachers according to the standards of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
The grants, funded through the Department of Workforce Development’s Wisconsin Fast Forward program, are intended to support these initiatives over a two-year period, with applications due by December 16.
Governor Evers highlighted the initiative as a crucial step to strengthen Wisconsin’s teacher workforce and ensure sustainable educational support.
This latest funding builds on previous rounds awarded to 10 schools in 2020 and 2022 and reflects Evers’ ongoing commitment to addressing the state’s educator shortage.
