Gov. Sununu Criticizes Kamala Harris for Staying in Washington Bubble During Campaign

Gov. Chris Sununu R-NH criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for staying within the bubble of Washington, D.C., rather than hitting the campaign trail more actively, as her opponent Donald Trump continues to do.

President Joe Biden won key states like Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Georgia in 2020 by holding frequent rallies in those areas. However, Harris, who launched her campaign in July after Biden stepped down, has only four months to sway voters in these battleground states. Speaking on One Nation with Brian Kilmeade on Saturday, Sununu responded to criticisms about Harris’s limited travel.

Harris is risk-averse, and in a campaign, you’ve got to be willing to take risks. You need to step out of your comfort zone and visit places where you might not be fully welcomed — and that’s fine, Sununu remarked. Go in, have those conversations, do the grassroots work, and let people know their voices matter, he continued. “Washington is trapped in a bubble and completely out of touch.

Since July, Harris has visited Wisconsin five times and made stops in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Georgia. She recently visited Michigan for the first time since launching her campaign. Meanwhile, Trump has been actively campaigning since the fall of 2022, including a recent stop in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he revisited the site of an attempted assassination.

When Trump makes these stops, he’s sending a clear message to the local communities: ‘I care about what you think. I’m not just here to talk at you — I want your feedback, your input, Sununu said. That approach shows people that his administration would be more connected to what’s happening on the ground than what we have today.

Sununu, who initially endorsed former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, has since shifted his support to Trump after he became the Republican nominee. Haley has also thrown her endorsement behind Trump.
