Golf Cart DUI: The Villages Woman Sentenced for Easter Drunk Driving Incident

Janine Renee Rapka, a 45-year-old resident of The Villages, was sentenced to 24 months probation following her arrest for drunk driving a golf cart at a Winn-Dixie store on Easter Sunday.

She had previously served 57 days in jail and has multiple DUI convictions in New Jersey.

According to the Lady Lake Police Department, Rapka was stopped at a stop sign when she yelled profanities at a man who walked in front of her cart and then vandalized his vehicle by scratching the door with a key, causing around $1,000 in damage.

The man’s mother, who was in the car, called 911.

When police arrived, they blocked Rapka’s cart to prevent her escape. Officers noted her apparent intoxication, and breath tests revealed blood alcohol levels of .307 and .289. Rapka refused field sobriety tests and demanded a lawyer.

Her driver’s license has been permanently revoked due to her past DUI offenses.

Additionally, while out on bond, she was arrested for another golf cart DUI, which is still pending in Sumter County Court.
