Five Arrested in Pekin, Indiana Drug Bust Following ISP Search

Pekin, Ind. — Five people were arrested on drug charges in Pekin, Indiana, following a search by Indiana State Police ISP on Wednesday.

The arrests stemmed from an attempt to serve a warrant for 53-year-old Edna Murphy, who was wanted for a probation violation related to possession of methamphetamine.

A trooper located Murphy at a residence off SR 60, just south of Pekin near the Clark County line. During the visit, the officer observed signs that prompted ISP to obtain a search warrant for the property.

The search, which continued into early Thursday morning, resulted in the discovery of over 20 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

    • Possession of a Syringe (Level 6 Felony)
    • Possession of Paraphernalia (A Misdemeanor)
  • Christopher Thomas, 52:

    • Dealing Methamphetamine (Level 4 Felony)
    • Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 6 Felony)
    • Possession of Marijuana (B Misdemeanor)
    • Possession of Paraphernalia (A Misdemeanor)
  • Kawlija Starrett, 44:

    • Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 6 Felony)
    • Possession of Paraphernalia (A Misdemeanor)
    • Possession of a Syringe (Level 6 Felony)
  • Nicole Starrett, 49:

    • Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 6 Felony)
    • Possession of Paraphernalia (A Misdemeanor)

The suspects were booked at the Washington County Jail, and the investigation remains ongoing. The ISP encourages anyone with information about illegal drug activity to contact their local law enforcement agency.
