As the 2024 presidential election nears, both vice presidential candidates are intensifying their campaign efforts in Wisconsin, a critical swing state.
Republican candidate JD Vance and Democrat Tim Walz are set to visit La Crosse on Monday, Nov. 4, the day before the election.
Their appearances underscore Wisconsin’s significance, where the past two presidential races were decided by narrow margins—Donald Trump’s victory in 2016 by fewer than 23,000 votes, followed by Joe Biden’s win in 2020 by just under 21,000 votes.
In a statement at a recent rally in Juneau, Trump emphasized the state’s importance, declaring, If we win Wisconsin, we win the presidency.
The candidates’ campaigns have frequently visited La Crosse and other key areas of Wisconsin this season.
Trump held a town hall in La Crosse in August, while Vice President Kamala Harris was in the Coulee Region two weeks ago.
Now, Vance will be at the La Crosse Center at 9:30 a.m., with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. Registration for the event is available online. Meanwhile, Walz will appear at a Get Out the Vote event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., though the exact location is yet to be disclosed by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
Wisconsin voters can expect a continued focus on the state as both campaigns make a final appeal in this pivotal battleground.
