The New Hampshire Primary Election will take place Tuesday, Sept. 9.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Derry voters in District 4 at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School, 5 Hood Road; Pinkerton Academy on Pinkerton Street for Districts 1 and 3; and Calvary Bible Church, 145 Hampstead Road, for District 2.
Absentee ballots are available on line or at the Town Clerk’s office in the Municipal Center.
The following people are vying for state and county offices:
State Sen. Dist. 19, which covers Derry, Hampstead and Windham: Republicans Regina Birdsell of Hampstead, and James Foley and Frank Sapareto, both of Derry. The winner of the Republican primary will go up against Democrat Kristi St. Laurent of Windham, who is unopposed in her party’s primary.
State Representative, 10 seats: Republican candidates Thomas Cardon, Brian Chirichiello, Beverly Ferrante, Bob Fesh, Teresa Hampton, Phyllis Katsakiores, David Milz, John O’Connor, John Potucek, Katherine Prudhomme-O’Brien, Cory Reynolds, and James Webb. The top 10 vote-getters on the Republican ballot will face Democrats Mary Till and Bobby Jones in November.
Governor: On the Republican ballot, Daniel Greene, Walt Havenstein, Andrew Hemingway and Jonathan Smolin are running. Democrat incumbent Maggie Hassan defends her post against Clecia Terrio and Ian Freeman on the Democrats’ ballot.
U.S. Senate: 10 candidates seek the win in the primary to challenge incumbent Democrat Jeanne Shaheen in November. On the Republican ticket are Bob Heghmann, Walter W. Kelly, Andy Martin, Jim Rubens, Bob Smith, Gerald Beloin, Scott P. Brown. Robert D’Arcy, Miro Dziedzic and Mark Farnham. Shaheen is unopposed on the Democrats’ ballot.
U.S. House: Running on the Republican side are Brendan Kelly, Frank Guinta, Dan Innis and Everett Jabour. The winner will challenge incumbent Democrat Carol Shea-Porter in November, who is running unopposed.
Executive Council, District 3: On the Republican side, incumbent Christopher Sununu is running for Executive Councilor, a post that includes Derry. Robin McLane is running unopposed on the Democrats’ side.
Rockingham County Commissioner, District 3: Republicans Kevin Coyle, the incumbent, and Kevin Waterhouse are running. There is no Democrat on the ballot.
County Sheriff: Republicans Michael Downing and David Lovejoy. Dante Mazzari is running unopposed as a Democrat.
County Attorney: Republicans Patricia Conway, Michael DiCroce, Jason Grosky and Michael Zaino. Joe Plaia is the sole Democrat on the ballot.
County Treasurer: Republican Edward Buck. Maureen Barrows is the sole Democrat for this post.
County Register of Deeds: Republican Cathy Stacey. John Robinson is running as a Democrat for this position.
County Register of Probate: Republican Mark Laliberte. The Democratic candidate is Lenore Patton.
