CPSC Recalls 60,000 Wawa Tumblers Due to Hazardous Metal Straw

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission CPSC has announced a recall of 60,000 tumblers sold by Wawa due to a safety hazard involving the product’s metal straw.

Manufactured by HALO Branded Solutions Inc., these 24-ounce reusable plastic tumblers pose a risk of oral lacerations because of their sharp metal straws. This decision follows reports of four injuries linked to the product.

The recalled tumblers feature tan lids, an ombre color scheme, and are branded with Wawa. Available in designs like The Mermaid pink and green, Island Surf blue and yellow, Sailor Breeze tan and orange, and The Galaxy blue and pink, they were sold for about $13 at Wawa stores across multiple states, including Alabama, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

To address the issue, consumers can contact HALO to receive a silicone straw replacement or return the tumbler for a $15 Wawa gift card. Returns should be made to HALO, not Wawa, and proof of purchase is not required.

Stanley, another popular tumbler brand, has responded to related concerns about their products, clarifying that any lead used in the vacuum insulation process is safely contained and does not come into contact with consumers.
