Carmela “Mickey” Conway, 81, of Derry, died Feb. 25, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born March 7, 1931 in South Medford, Mass., the daughter of Joseph and Rosa (Fareri) Micale. She was raised and educated in Medford, Mass., and was a graduate of Medford High School. She was a resident of Somerville, Mass., for over 20 years before relocating to Derry in 1979.
She was employed in retail sales, first with Bradlees for over 15 years and most recently with Bed, Bath and Beyond. She enjoyed traveling and was a longtime Elvis fan. Members of her family include four children, Denise M. Gaynor and her husband, Richard, of Pelham; James M. Conway and his wife, Theresa J., of Derry; Donna R. Conway of Malden, Mass., and John J. Conway of Florida;sixgrandchildren,RichardW.GaynorJr. andhis wife, Leslie, of New Hampton, Joseph J. Gaynor and his wife, Tanya, of Sandown, Matthew J. Conway and his wife, Tracy, of Weare, Jesse Conway and Allysia Conway, both of Gardner, Mass., and Christopher N. Conway of Derry; three great-grandchildren, Cody, Kailey and Joey Gaynor; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, James M. Conway Sr., and by three grandchildren, Jennifer Gaynor, Jeremy Conway, and Shannon D. Gwiazda.
Calling hours are Thursday, Feb. 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road Londonderry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Genoa Parish, 179 Summer St., Somerville, Mass. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery of Medford.
